DG Research and Innovation, as a member of the European Commission’s negotiating task force led by DG CLIMA, showcased at COP 22 the contribution of research and innovation on climate-related challenges. Several side events were organised in the European Union Pavilion, in particular on the 15th of November 2016.
During the event: Water-Energy-Food: Research and Innovation to address the nexus in the Mediterranean the project MinWaterCSP was presented.
Land, food, energy, water and climate are interconnected though a complex system, dominated by interdependencies between human activities and natural environment. This event brought together institutional and R&I stakeholders to share insights into challenges and solutions for a low-carbon economy interlinked with sustainable management of resources.
Presentations from several high level speakers such as RTD General Director at the EC, Mr. Patrick Child.
These presentations were followed by a poster session for several projects as MinWaterCSP, WASCOP and others. Projects representatives had the opportunity to exchange information with each other.
MinWaterCSP was represented by El Ghali Bennouna from IRESEN.

IRESEN (Institut de Recherche en Energie Solaire et Energies Nouvelles) was established in 2011 in order to lead and promote R&D in the field of renewable energy, to carry it to a higher level and national scale, hereby defining research topics, coordinating and optimizing the overall research process.
