Overview - MinWaterCSP Conference Stellenbosch
Reduction of water consumption in CSP plants
2nd International Conference hosted by the Horizon 2020 project MinWaterCSP
Saving water when the sun shines! MinWaterCSP cordially invites you to its second and final International Conference on the “Reduction of water consumption in CSP plants”. The conference will conclude its three years of efforts to promote the competitiveness of CSP plants in arid regions. Following on the success of its first Conference in Marrakech, Morocco, in April 2018, this two day conference will present applicable technologies in mirror cleaning and cooling to minimise water consumption in CSP plants. The event will take place in the beautiful wine region of Stellenbosch, South Africa, from the 7th to the 8th November 2018 and will be hosted by MinWaterCSP project partner Stellenbosch University. During the two day conference, participants will share their experiences about the water challenges in CSP plants and learn more about the technological solutions MinWaterCSP has to offer. The conference programme will be accompanied by an exhibition where industrial and research stakeholders will inform about their projects, products and services. In addition to the presentations on the second day, a site visit to the full-scale test facility in Stellenbosch will be organised where two main aspects of a novel hybrid (deluge) cooling system, developed within MinWaterCSP, are tested:
- a 7.315 m (24 ft) diameter axial flow fan and
- a deluge cooling water circulation system.
Experts from CSP, cooling, mirror cleaning and water technology will meet to make CSP technology ready for regions with severe water scarcity. The event also aims to inspire stakeholders from power utilities, power plant operators, technology suppliers, research institutes and academia that are working in the fields of concentrated solar power. Discover applicable solutions for mirror cleaning and power plant cooling and meet future business partners to face technology challenges and make CSP technology fit for arid regions!
